Role Overview:
The Head Coach is the strategic and operational leader of the He’e Nalu programs. This pivotal role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive coaching philosophy while fostering a culture of positivity, excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Coach oversees all program offerings, including recreational, youth, novice, and competitive, and acts as the primary liaison between the coaches and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Coach Meetings & Agendas
- Schedule, organize, and lead all coaching meetings, ensuring clear objectives and outcomes.
- Set meeting agendas to address training plans, performance goals, and any emerging issues.
- Coaching Staff Management
- Along with the Board of Directors, recruit, mentor, and manage a qualified coaching team across all He’e Nalu programs.
- Provide ongoing training, development, and mentoring opportunities to enhance coaching skills and maintain high standards.
- Program Oversight
- Define and standardize organizational stroke techniques, terminology, and instructional methods.
- Oversee and coordinate all program training schedules.
- Monitor and assess paddler and coach performance, adapting strategies to optimize both individual and team results.
- Communication & Reporting
- Maintain regular, transparent communication with the Board of Directors regarding program performance, budget requirements, and significant updates or challenges.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between coaches, paddlers, and the Board, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Equipment Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate equipment needs across all He’e Nalu programs and race events.
- Conflict Resolution
- Serve as a mediator and mentor to address and resolve conflicts between members, coaches, and the Board of Directors.
- Establish and promote clear communication channels for reporting and discussing concerns.
- Develop and implement conflict resolution strategies that align with the organization’s values, ensuring fair and timely resolution of issues.
- Facilitate open discussions when conflicts arise, aiming to maintain a positive, collaborative, and respectful environment for all.
